FRIDAY NIGHT FILMS

Our Friday night films are screened on the last Friday of each month, with occasional exceptions. We show a range of high-quality independent, classic, and rare films that you would not normally see at a multiplex. The choice is based on critic and peer reviews, awards, and more general listing ratings (e.g.  Halliwells, Time Out, Roger Ebert, Rotten Tomatoes). Many films consistently appear in the top 100 films ever made.

We take risks with our film choices and hope that our audience will also be willing to do the same. To date, over 5,000 people have attended our film nights and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.   A night at Hoylake Community Cinema might make you cry, laugh, squirm with unease or radiate with a warm glow… or maybe all together… an emotional roller-coaster that you will always remember.

So, whether it is the comforting feel-good factor of It’s a Wonderful Life; the unsettling and profoundly moving experience of Regeneration, the gentle and all-encompassing humour of  The Dish or all emotions combined in Mike Leigh’s brilliant Secrets and Lies, there is bound to be something for you.  So, whether you’ve seen it before or not, whether you ‘fancy’ it or not… please come along and give it a try. If you are anything like the other 5000+ people who have been… you’ll love it!

After the film we enjoy chatting with friends at the licensed bar, where we serve fresh, homemade food and quality drinks, and a quiz with great prizes.  Are you missing out?
